What size Christmas tree do I need? How to measure your room

A full Premium Christmas tree stood up at the pitch

A tree always looks smaller standing outside on the pitch than it does in your living room. The easiest way to get it right is to measure before you come.

1. Measure from floor to ceiling

Measure the spot where the tree will stand, not the middle of the room, especially if your ceiling slopes or has beams.

2. Leave about a foot

Take off roughly a foot: about 6 inches for the stand and 6 for your star or angel. That’s standard advice, and it stops the top bending against the ceiling.

3. Pick your size

Our trees come in one-foot bands. As a guide:

Your ceilingTree to choose
7ft5 to 6ft
8ft6 to 7ft
9ft7 to 8ft
10ft8 to 9ft
Higher than 10ftAsk us about a larger Premium tree

Our trees run from 4ft to 9ft, and larger Premium trees are available on request.

4. Think about width and the way in

A fuller tree takes up more floor. Check the space around it, and measure the doors and stairs it has to come through. Every tree we sell is netted on the spot, which makes it much easier to get inside.

Still not sure?

Try our tree finder: tell it your ceiling height and it suggests a size and grade. Or see every size side by side on our trees page. Then choose your tree online, or call Alex on 07533 321529.
