Christmas starts in Alton on Friday 27 November, the night of the Alton Christmas lights switch-on, and that’s the day our Alton pitch opens for the season.
Where to find us
You’ll find us where we’ve been for over ten years: on the steps of the Assembly Rooms, in the middle of Alton High Street (GU34 1BA). Look for the banner, the netting machine and Benson, who takes up his post among the trees every November.
The big tree in town is ours
When the lights go on, take a look at the big Christmas tree in Alton town centre. It’s one of ours. If you like the look of it, come and see the rest.
Opening times
Our Alton pitch is open every day: Monday to Friday 9:30am to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm, Sunday 9am to 4:30pm.
It’s always the last of our pitches to close, and stays open until the trees sell out. Our other four pitches, at Lower Farringdon, Herriard, Brookwood and Bramdean, open the next day, Saturday 28 November. See all five pitches for 2026.
Beat the rush
Opening weekends are busy. Choose your tree online and we’ll tag it with your name, so it’s waiting for you when you arrive. For event times on the night, keep an eye on the town’s own announcements.
And once it’s up and dressed, enter our best-dressed tree competition on Facebook. The winner gets a free tree next Christmas.
